AWARDS 2025/26
The Cecchetti Society Trust welcomed talented young dancers to the Vocational Classical Ballet Awards on Sunday 23rd November 2025 at Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham. The Awards incorporated the Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship, the Barbara Geoghegan Award and the Cyril Beaumont Scholarship. All competitors participated in an adjudicated ballet class onstage containing unset work and specified traditional Cecchetti exercises. Those entering the Barbara Geoghegan Award and Cyril Beaumont Scholarship also performed a classical solo.
The esteemed Adjudicators were Rosanna Ely, First Artist Birmingham Royal Ballet and Jonathan Payn, Principal Character Artist and Répétiteur Birmingham Royal Ballet. The Trust also welcomed Lynn Wallis to present the Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship Musicality Award in memory of Barbara Fewster.
The onstage classes were ably presented by Alex Harrison, former First Soloist of Sarasota Ballet with inspiring accompaniment by Jonnie Gait. A team of volunteers worked tirelessly backstage to ensure the smooth running of the event and the Trust was very grateful for their invaluable support.
The Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship Winner’s prize was £2,000, the Runner Up £600 and the Musicality Award £250. The Barbara Geoghegan Award Winner’s prize was £2,000, the Runner Up £800. The Cyril Beaumont Scholarship Winner’s prize was £2,000, the Runner Up £800. In addition a Musicality Award and a Promising Young Dancer Award of £700 each, were awarded in this section. The Cecchetti Society Trust provides these training Awards and is grateful to private sponsors who have generously donated funds.
