Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

The Cecchetti Society Trust Vocational Classical Ballet Awards will take place on Sunday 15th November 2026 at Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham. The Awards are open to UK and international students in pre-vocational and full time vocational training who meet the Awards criteria. Important entry deadlines and details of ticket sales are below.

The Trust supports teachers through Teacher Study Bursaries and is pleased to advise the application dates for 2027 bursaries.

We are also pleased to draw your attention to an exciting evening at the Royal Ballet School - Mime in Motion takes place on 26th October 2026 for further details see below.

Application Deadline! 12th October 2026

Cecchetti  teachers if you have a student who holds ISTD Cecchetti Intermediate with a pass mark of 75% or higher and is not yet in full time vocational  training, they may be eligible to enter the Trust’s Vocational Awards on 15th November 2026.   The Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship is adjudicated on a class at Intermediate level with some set exercises and unset work.  A solo is not required.  

The Barbara Geoghegan Award has the same pass criteria/class level at Advanced 1 and the Cyril Beaumont Scholarship at  Advanced 2 and competitors perform a solo.

The Awards are also open to students in full time vocational training studying at these levels, so please share this information to encourage young dancers to enter the Awards.

Teacher Study Bursaries 2027
(for study January - December 2027)  

The Cecchetti Society Trust has range of bursaries given annually to support teachers in their study of the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet.  So if you are intending to further your professional development in 2027 with a course of study, attendance at a summer school or intensive course, or through taking an examination, a Trust bursary could help you achieve this aim. Applications are open to those studying ISTD Cecchetti in the UK and Internationally.

Mime in Motion
21st October 2026, 7.00pm - 9.00pm
Royal Ballet Upper School & Online

Brandon Lawrence and Julia Bowers of GradPro and the London Ballet Circle are presenting Mime in Motion - a special collaborative event to celebrate the expressive art of mime, exploring its place within the traditions of classical ballet and looking to its future. It promises to be an insightful evening with demonstrations including mime excerpts from classical ballets and how mime can influence new works today. Artists include Zenaida Yanowsky, Ivan Putrov, Daria Stanciulescu, Daniel Davidson and Alex Harrison, along with GradPro students.
