A group of independent Cecchetti teachers have come together as an organising committee to re-launch the Cecchetti Southern Area Awards (previously organised for many years by the late Penny Walker). The awards will take place at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley on 6th April 2025. This is a friendly and inclusive competition that seeks to encourage all Cecchetti dancers based in the South East of England in their ballet studies and is designed to give the recreational, once-a-week ballet dancer the opportunity to perform in a professionally organised competition. The Trust has been pleased to be able to help support this initiative through a Cecchetti Society Trust Grant and it is particularly fitting that a bequest to the Trust from Penny Walker made this support possible.
