Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

The Vocational Classical Ballet Awards took place on Sunday 23rd November 2025 at Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham. The day was a great success with a high standard of dancing from the competitors and a very warm response from their audience.

The Trust funds the Geoghegan, Fewster and Beaumont Awards and Scholarships. A Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship Musicality Award previously funded by Miss Barbara Fewster has now been generously funded by Miss Lynn Wallis OBE, and Mrs Mary-Jane Duckworth continues to generously contribute to the Beaumont Scholarship.  The Trust is most grateful for these and all other private donations.

Vocational Awards 2025/26
Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham

The Cecchetti Society Trust Vocational Classical Ballet Awards 2025/6 took place on Sunday 23rd November 2025 at Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham.

On behalf of the Chair and Trustees Ruth Brill warmly welcomed guest Lynn Wallis and competitors, teachers and audience members.

All competitors participated in an adjudicated ballet class onstage. Those entering the Barbara Geoghegan Award and Cyril Beaumont Scholarship also performed a classical solo.
The onstage classes were ably presented by Alex Harrison, with inspiring accompaniment by Jonnie Gait.

Our esteemed Adjudicators were Rosanna Ely, First Artist Birmingham Royal Ballet and Jonathan Payn, Principal Character Artist and Répétiteur Birmingham Royal Ballet, both shared their invaluable advice arising from their adjudication before presenting the Awards.

Teachers & Students Study Bursaries
Application 2026

Support for teachers and students studying the Cecchetti Method is a key objective for the Trust and in 2026 new applications will be invited for Teachers Study Bursaries and Student Study Bursaries.

To assist with forward planning, the Trust is pleased to advise the next application deadline dates for these categories:-
