Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

Trustees are looking forward to welcoming many readers to our event From Studio to Stage on 11th May 2025 at The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden. Tickets will be on sale from 11th April 2025 and further details of the programme are given in the item below.

Student Summer Study Bursaries 2025 are offered by the Trust to allow young dancers to extend their experience through attendance at a Cecchetti Summer School, or an intensive course of Cecchetti study in the coming months and applications are now open. Applications to audition for the Cecchetti Scholars 2025/26 are also now open, so please share both these exciting opportunities with interested students.

CST Small & General Grant applications for the academic year 2025/26 are now open and it is an opportunity for individuals or organisations planning Cecchetti events or projects to apply for support. If you would like to learn more about these Grants, Elisabeth Swan will host an online meeting on 30th April 2025 - details are below.

From Studio to Stage
Presented by Cecchetti Society Trust

The Cecchetti Society Trustees cordially invite you to attend From Studio to Stage on 11th May 2025 at The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden - 12.45 - 17.30 (times tbc). The event will showcase some of the work the Trust supports, including performances by the Cecchetti Scholars, the CICB Competition 2024 and Vocational Awards 2024/25 winners and professional artists. The programme will also include tributes to Richard Glasstone and Barbara Fewster from a panel of distinguished guests. During the afternoon there will be the opportunity to socialise with colleagues and guests over afternoon tea.

From Studio to Stage is open to Cecchetti teachers, students (minimum age 11 years) and to all ballet lovers who would like to know more about Cecchetti and the work of the Trust. Tickets will be on sale from 12th April 2025 priced £40.00 (Adult), £25.00 (Concessions). STUDIO TO STAGE

Student Summer Study Bursaries 2025 Applications Open!

The Trust is offering Student Summer Study Bursaries to support young dancers who are attending a Cecchetti Summer School or an intensive course of Cecchetti study in the coming months. Students must be aged 9 - 21 years by the 31st August 2025 and studying at ISTD Cecchetti Grade 5 /Class Exam 5 level up to Diploma level.

Applications are open to students studying ISTD Cecchetti in the UK and Internationally. Bursary categories are up to £500 (residential courses) and up to £300 (non residential courses). Cecchetti Scholars Audition 2025/26
10th May 2025 - Applications open

The Cecchetti Classical Ballet Scholarship Scheme offers talented young dancers outstanding training and performance experience. The scheme is funded by the Cecchetti Society Trust and organised by the Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty, ISTD. Applications are now open for the Cecchetti Scholars Auditions for entry for the academic year 2025/26. The Auditions will take place on: Saturday 10th May at Arts Educational School, Chiswick London - start time of 13:00. (Exact audition times will be confirmed nearer the time).

The application deadline is Wednesday 7th May 2025.

SCHOLARS AUDITIONS

Small & General Grants 2025
Online Meeting - 30th April 10.00am

The Cecchetti Society Trust is inviting applications for Small Grants (up to £1,000) and General Grants (over £1,000) for the academic year 2025/26. The Grants are to support events, activities or projects that will extend opportunities for Cecchetti learners beyond an individual school/teacher/student.

If you would like to learn more about these grants or have any questions, Elisabeth Swan, Chair of the Trust will host an online Zoom meeting on Wednesday 30th April 2025 at 10.00am (GMT). If you wish to attend the meeting please email: admin@cecchettisocietytrust.org and we will send the Zoom link.

CST GRANTS

Livia Brillarelli 1948 - 2025

Trustees are saddened to learn of the passing of Livia Brillarelli at the age of 77 years. For much of her life, Livia lived in or near Civitanova, the birthplace of Enrico Cecchetti. Her research and writing about the internationally renowned dancer and choreographer and his family, has contributed greatly to our knowledge of the Maestro. Many readers will be familiar with her fascinating book Cecchetti - A Ballet Dynasty, compiled from her research about the Cecchetti family.

As a musicologist, she was passionate about local history, and was among the founders of the Centro Studi Città di Civitanova. Brillarelli created the Cecchetti Fund and donated a collection of Cecchetti’s manuscripts and original letters to the municipal library of Civitanova, leaving a unique insight into his life and legacy.
