Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

In our first newsletter of 2026 we are highlighting some upcoming events and funding opportunities that the Trust is pleased to be able to support.

From Studio to Stage 2026 will take place on Sunday 19th April, 2026 at The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden. Tickets for this Trust event will go on sale on Monday 9th March and Trustees look forward to welcoming many of our readers to this special day.

The start of the new year is a fresh opportunity for teachers and students to consider their study plans and applications are invited for CST Teacher Study Bursaries and CST Student Study Bursaries 2026. The closing date for applications is the 2nd March 2026, so please share this information widely with any teachers and students who may be interested in these opportunities.

The Trust supports a range of Cecchetti activities through CST General Grant applications and the Cecchetti Southern Area Awards 2026 event was a successful grant recipient. The Awards will take place on 28th February 2026 at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley.

From Studio to Stage
Sunday 19th April, 2026
The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden

The Trust is delighted to present From Studio to Stage 2026 at The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden on 19th April 2026.
The event will showcase some of the work the Trust supports including performances by the Cecchetti Scholars, the CST Vocational Award winners, guest teachers and professional artists. The programme for the day is being finalised, but we are delighted to confirm that Diane van Schoor, FISTD (CB), FRSA, Enrico Cecchetti Diploma, will present a session on the Cecchetti Days of the Week and Kevin O’Hare CBE, Director of The Royal Ballet and Trust Patron, will also join us to share some insights from his remarkable career.

From Studio to Stage is open to Cecchetti teachers, students (minimum age 11 years) and to all ballet lovers who would like to know more about Cecchetti and the work of the Trust. During the afternoon there will be the opportunity to socialise with colleagues and guests over afternoon tea. Tickets will be on sale from 9th March 2026 priced £40.00 (Adult), £25.00 (Concessions). Teacher Study Bursaries 2026
Applications Invited

The Cecchetti Society Trust has a range of bursaries given annually to support teachers in their study of the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet. So if you are intending to further your professional development in 2026 with a course of study, attendance at a summer school or intensive course, or through taking an examination, a Trust bursary could help you achieve this aim. Applications are open to those studying ISTD Cecchetti in the UK and Internationally.

Applications for CST Teacher Study Bursaries 2026 (for study in the period January 2026 - December 2026) are now open.

Student Study Bursaries 2026
Applications Invited

The Trust is inviting applications for Student Study Bursaries to help support young dancers who are attending an intensive course of Cecchetti study between 1st January 2026 - 31st August 2026. Students must be aged 9 - 21 years by the 31st August 2026 and studying an ISTD Cecchetti exam at any level from Cecchetti Grade 5 /Class Exam 5 up to Diploma.

Applications are open to students in the UK and Internationally. Bursary categories are up to £500 (residential courses) and up to £300 (non residential courses). Cecchetti Southern Area Awards
Saturday 28th February 2026

The Trust is pleased to once again be able to support the Cecchetti Southern Area Awards. This year the awards will take place at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley on 28th February 2026.

The event is a friendly and inclusive competition that seeks to encourage all Cecchetti dancers based in the South East of England in their ballet studies and is designed to give the recreational, once-a-week ballet dancer the opportunity to perform in a professionally organised competition.
