Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

With spring in the air and warmer months on the way, we would like to draw your attention to upcoming opportunities and events:

April: Cecchetti Day organised by the Cecchetti Faculty ISTD at The Royal Ballet School.

May: Auditions for the Cecchetti Scholars and Application deadline for Student Summer Study Bursaries.

June: Application deadline for Trust Grants for individuals and organisations planning a special project or event to extend opportunities for Cecchetti teachers and students in the new academic year 2024/25.

Information about all these opportunities and application deadline dates are given below and the Trust would be grateful if you would share these with interested Cecchetti teachers, students and supporters.

Student Summer Study Bursaries 2024
Application Deadline: 13th May 2024

The Trust is offering Student Summer Study Bursaries to support young dancers who are attending a Cecchetti Summer School or intensive course of Cecchetti study in the coming months. Students must be aged 9 - 21 years by the 31st August 2024 and studying at ISTD Cecchetti Grade 4 /Class Exam 4 level or higher. Applications are open to students studying ISTD Cecchetti in the UK and Internationally. Further information and an application form can be found using the link button below. Small Grants & General Grants
Academic Year 2024/25
Applications Open

If any teachers or schools in the UK or Internationally have a special Cecchetti project that they are planning, a Trust Grant may help realise this. The Trust is inviting applications for Small Grants (up to £500) and General Grants (over £500) for the academic year 2024/25.  The Grants are to support events, activities or projects that will extend opportunities for Cecchetti learners beyond an individual school/teacher/student.  Applications may be made by individuals or organisations but should align with the Trust’s objective to encourage, support and promote participation in Cecchetti classical ballet. The application deadline is 15th June 2024.

The Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty, ISTD will be hosting Cecchetti Day on 21st April 2024 from 10.00am at the Royal Ballet Upper School, Covent Garden. The day will include a packed programme of dance, lectures and performances, a light lunch and refreshments throughout the day, as well as an opportunity to catch up and network with friends and colleagues. Cecchetti Scholars Auditions
11th May 2024
Applications Open!

The Cecchetti Classical Ballet Scholarship Scheme offers talented young dancers outstanding training and performance experience. The scheme is funded by the Cecchetti Society Trust and organised by the Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty, ISTD. Applications are now open for the Cecchetti Scholars Auditions for entry for the academic year 2024/25. The Auditions will take place on: Saturday 11th May - 13:00 onwards - Arts Educational School, Chiswick London.

Cecchetti Wales & West Awards 2024

The Cecchetti Society Trust was delighted to support the 2024 Wales & West Awards. Organised by Jacqui Everson and Carol Goode, with the support of Cecchetti teacher colleagues, this event took place at the Congress Theatre, Cwmbran on 4th February 2024. Over 70 students took part in the competition and a new junior Award was introduced in memory of Penny Walker. Penny was a dedicated Cecchetti teacher who organised the Cecchetti Southern Area Awards for many years and always believed in the value of providing local regional competitions for young dancers. Elisabeth Swan, Chair of the Trust adjudicated the new Award and Sarah Wells adjudicated the higher sections of the competition. Penny Hughes accompanied the classes. The young participants had very warm support from the audience and following the success of this day, the organisers are now planning the 2025 Awards.
