Welcome to the Cecchetti Society Trust Newsletter

The Cecchetti Society Trust Vocational Classical Ballet Awards will take place on Sunday 24th November 2024 at Elmhurst Ballet School, Birmingham. The deadline for entering the Awards is 21st October 2024 and application information for teachers and students is available below.

The Awards are open to the public and further event information and ticket booking details are also given below. Trustees hope many of our supporters will be able to attend this very special event and enjoy the perfomances of the talented young dancers taking part.

The Trust supports a number of grants and bursaries for individuals and organisations to study or promote the Cecchetti Method. To assist with forward planning, we are giving the application deadlines in 2025 for our next round of funding. We would appreciate our readers sharing this information as widely as possible.

Talented young dancers will be taking part in the Cecchetti Society Trust Vocational Classical Ballet Awards. These annual Awards incorporate the Fewster Cecchetti Scholarship, the Barbara Geoghegan Award and for the first time the Cyril Beaumont Scholarship, along with other generous study awards provided by the Trust.

VOCATIONAL AWARDS

CST Vocational Awards Audience Tickets -
Booking Opens 24th October 2024

Trustees hope that many of our readers and supporters can join us for our Vocational Classical Ballet Awards on Sunday 24th November 2024 at Elmhurst Ballet School.

We are delighted that Romany Pajdak, Soloist of the Royal Ballet will teach the onstage classes accompanied by Jonnie Gait.

The Awards Adjudicators will be Sara Gallie, former Soloist of the Royal Ballet and David Yow, former Principal of Birmingham Royal Ballet. The event is open to a public audience and tickets are priced £15.00 for Adults and £8.00 for Students and those aged 16 years and under.

Barbara Fewster & Richard Glasstone

Ceccheti Society Trustees were greatly saddened to learn of the recent passing of two of our exceptional teachers and advocates of the Cecchetti Method - Barbara Fewster and Richard Glasstone.

Richard Glasstone MBE died on 1st October 2024 and this sad news reached us just as we publish this Newsletter. Tributes to Richard will be included in our November edition.

Grants & Bursaries
Application Dates 2025

The Cecchetti Society Trust supports a number of grants and bursaries annually for special projects and to support study for teachers and students. To assist with forward planning, the Trust is pleased to advise the next application deadline dates for each of the following categories:-

CST Teachers Study Bursaries 2025
(for study January - December 2025)
Application Date: 3rd March 2025

CST Student Summer Study Bursaries 2025
(for study June - August 2025)
Application Date: 12th May 2025

CST Project Grants 2025/26
(for the academic year September 2025 - August 2026) Application Date: 15th June 2025

Cecchetti International Classical Ballet

At the CICB Conference in July 2024, Gail Myburgh concluded her term of office as CICB Chair. Gail led CICB with great dedication from 2017, including through the very difficult time of the Covid pandemic. Delegates presented Gail with a silk scarf as a token of appreciation. Yvonne Barker, Vice Chair and Betty Seibert, Treasurer were also thanked for their contribution as they concluded their terms of office.

Anne Butler was elected by delegates as the new CICB Chair with Gail Myburgh as Vice Chair, Mary Ross as Treasurer and Leanne King continuing in her invaluable role as Secretary. Trustees send their congratulations and best wishes to them all, as they work with delegates to guide CICB through the next exciting phase of its development.
